2023 Vancouver Pro Results

The two-day Vancouver Pro show has wrapped up, and bodybuilding fans in Abbotsford, BC were treated to a great series of contests. Pro cards were issued, and Olympia qualifications were earned. They even got to see a little bodybuilding history be made. Here’s a brief look back at all six pro contests held at this competition.

Men’s Open

We actually got the exact top three for the Men’s Open show correct in our predictions. Hassan Mostafa wasn’t going to be denied three times in a row, and he finally got the win he needed to qualify for the Olympia. Stan de Longeaux had great conditioning, but Mostafa’s density and size was too much to overcome. Up and comer Nathan Spear took third place, followed by two Canadians – Prince Boabang and Morgan MacDonald rounding out the top five.

  2. Stan de Longeaux
  3. Nathan Spear
  4. Prince Boabang
  5. Morgan MacDonald

Classic Physique

That pat on the back for the Men’s Open choices was negated by how wrong we were for Classic Physique. John Le showed up and showed out, dominating the show to take the win and trip to Orlando for the Classic Physique Olympia. Dylan Bursey left the stage in second place, and settling for third was Robert Waterhouse of England.

Men’s Physique

The last man standing in Men’s Physique was Jason Huynh, who is now qualified to take on Erin Banks in the Men’s Physique Olympia. Mehdi Kabbadj took second, which we predicted, and settling for third was Drew Cullen of the USA. We thought Chevy Phillips would be the highest Canadian in third, but he actually left the stage in fourth place.

  3. Drew Cullen
  4. Chevy Phillips
  5. Wagner Abreu

Fitness

The Fitness division saw Sara Kovach take the title thanks to an incredible performance round. The routines count for two-thirds of the overall score, which is how she earned the win. This is the second time we got the top three correct in this show. Michelle Fredua-Mensah and Stephanie Jones took second and third, respectively. Canadians represented the rest of the top six, with Jessica Ann Zehr, Noemie Champagne-Cloutier, and Danielle DaCosta finishing in that order.

Figure

Masters athlete Gina Palma pulled off a big upset in taking the Figure title, and is now qualified for both the Masters Olympia and Figure Olympia. We had Autumn Cleveland taking this show, but she would settle for second place. Dalila Alegria rounded out the top three.

Bikini

Ashley Kaltwasser is already the only IFBB Pro League athlete with 40 wins. So, every time she wins, she will be the first to win the next number. That number now sits at 41 thanks to her Bikini division victory at this show. She’s now a two-time champion of the Vancouver Pro, having won her first title five years ago. Canada’s highest finisher in this show was Maxine Alexandra Somov, and taking third was Tianna Weymouth.
