Vancouver Island Showdown Pro Predictions

Contest Coverage Sponsored By:

Three IFBB Pro League women’s divisions will be on the marquee at the 2024 Vancouver Island Showdown on Saturday, April 20 in Victoria, BC. Promoter Corey Swiergosz will host three Olympia qualifying categories for Women’s Bodybuilding, Women’s Physique, and Wellness.

The competitor lists show 17 athletes will represent six different countries this weekend across all three categories, as of today. We are going to break down each show and look into an imaginary crystal ball to see who will return home as champions.

Women’s Bodybuilding

  • Lena Betka
  • Michelle Bogden
  • Marianna Gasparyan
  • Melanie Horton
  • Rebeca Roa
  • Julia Whitesel

This division includes powerlifting legend Marianna Gasparyan, who has held numerous world records and championships in that sport. She has shifted her focus to bodybuilding in recent years. She will look to qualify for the Olympia for the first time. Standing in her way will be Julia Whitesel, who was runner-up to Sherry Priami in 2023. We see Whitesel winning this time around, with Lena Betka coming in second. Canada’s own Melanie Horton will round out the top three, we believe.

  1. Julia Whitesel
  2. Lena Betka
  3. Melanie Horton

Women’s Physique

  • Arbe Myhre
  • Julie Schultz
  • Marianne Von Gierke

There are only three athletes competing in the Women’s Physique portion, and even though the names above are in alphabetical order, that is also our predicted order of finish. Arbe Myhre will make her pro debut after turning pro at the 2023 Teen Collegiate and Masters National Championships, and we think she will pull off the upset win in her first go onstage in the pro ranks.

  1. Arbe Myhre
  2. Julie Schultz
  3. Marianne Von Gierke

Wellness

  • Emily Azzarello
  • Nicollette Burns
  • Kaedi Doi
  • Pierrette Ebami
  • Giovanna Favero Taques Loyola
  • Joanna Jean
  • Debora Paula De Oliveira
  • Jasmine Payne

The Wellness division has the most athletes with eight prepared to face the judges. One of those was Nicollette Burns, who was third in this show one year ago. Emily Azzarello will represent the host country in this lineup, and she’s been a rising star in the division. Experience matters in these shows, and Jasmine Payne has been on the Olympia stage. She’s looking to make it back there, and we think this will be the show that she punches her ticket to Las Vegas.

  1. Jasmine Payne
  2. Nicolette Burns
  3. Emily Azzarello
