Arnolds Future Prospects - TV and Movies

Long before our favorite action hero was in roles to terminate Sarah Connor or crush the snake cults of Cimmeria, Arnold Schwarzenegger was actually on his way to becoming a television star. Hot out of the gym as the world’s greatest bodybuilder, Schwarzenegger first took on a big role in 1974 playing Rico, the muscular masseuse on Happy Anniversary and Goodbye, starring Lucille Ball. Soon after, Arnold found his way into other popular television series, including The Dating Game and The Streets of San Francisco, and he even starred in the prime-time TV movie The Jayne Mansfield Story.

In early 2015, Schwarzenegger surprised everyone with an unannounced guest appearance in a major role in the series finale of Two and a Half Men. Fan and critic reaction was so overwhelmingly positive that this television popularity could have motivated the movie star towards a new path in life.

Celebrity Apprentice

In a huge shocker, Arnold, after conquering the international box office with a whopping $440 million haul for Terminator Genisys, is yet again expanding his resume by preparing for television domination. Ready to step into Donald Trump’s shoes, Arnold Schwarzenegger announced that he will be the new boss on The Celebrity Apprentice!

“I have always been a huge fan of The Celebrity Apprentice and the way it showcases the challenges and triumphs of business and teamwork,” Schwarzenegger said. “I am thrilled to bring my experience to the boardroom and to continue to raise millions for charity. Let’s get started!”

The most recent season of The Celebrity Apprentice, which ended in February 2015, averaged 7.3 million viewers, but with Arnold involved, we may see those numbers skyrocket to what they reached originally in 2004, averaging nearly 21 million viewers an episode.

Donald Trump himself tweeted his approval for his successor: “Congrats to my friend @Schwarzenegger who is doing next season’s Celebrity Apprentice. He’ll be great & will raise lots of money for charity.”

Long before Donald Trump uttered the words “You’re fired!” on NBC’s The Celebrity Apprentice, Arnold Schwarzenegger spoke and owned that one-liner in True Lies. It’s to be determined what Arnold’s official one-liner shall be to terminate each intern on a weekly basis, but the Terminator star did share some thoughts: “I cannot wait to say, ‘You’re fired!’ Or, ‘You’re terminated!’ Or, ‘You won’t be back!’”
With this exciting news of Arnold Schwarzenegger as the new big boss man on The Celebrity Apprentice, many believe the action hero might be calling it quits with epic action movies. Fear not, because Schwarzenegger spoke to TheArnoldFans.com at the Arnold Classic in Madrid and confirms he’s not leaving his film fans!

“None of this [Celebrity Apprentice] will affect anything, because I have managed to do my Terminator movies at the same time I have done my Arnold Classic bodybuilding championships and fitness expos around the world and promote my environmental crusade, run the USC Schwarzenegger Institute, and the list goes on and on. You can do all of those things if you’re very well organized and if you love what you are doing. So I love everything that I do.”

It’s possible that Schwarzenegger’s commitment for The Celebrity Apprentice might only be twice a week, so he should still indeed have plenty of time to continue his fantastic movie career along the way.

The Future of Arnold Films
Many knew Terminator Genisys would do well at the box office, but who would have imagined it would become Arnold’s personal second biggest hit of his film career? Thankfully, Schwarzenegger will continue on with his movie career, all while simultaneously working on his Celebrity Apprentice television career and heavy involvement with the Arnold Classic Sports Festival. Let’s now take a look at the confirmed movies coming soon and rumoured movies of Arnold’s film prospects.

478
On December 14, 2015, Arnold Schwarzenegger stepped onto the Columbus, Ohio, set of his latest movie, 478. In this drama, Schwarzenegger plays a man seeking revenge on an air traffic controller who accidentally caused a tragic plane crash and the death of Arnold’s character’s wife and child. The traffic controller is lightly punished and placed in protective custody while Schwarzenegger seeks out to unleash his rage on the one at fault.
Unlike most other three- to four-month shoots, 478 has an expected shooting schedule of only 25 days, because this isn’t your typical big-budget action film. Similar to Maggie, 478 looks to be a smaller released independent film with a projected budget of $10.5 million. Arnold received major acclaim for his acting in Maggie and aims to bench press his way into another performance-heavy acting role. So don’t expect epic fight scenes with wild special effects. Instead, we hope well-deserved awards and Oscars could be the bigger goal. When asked on January 20 if he thought an Oscar would ever be in his future, Schwarzenegger responded, “It will happen.”

UK distributor Signature Entertainment has signed a six-film slate deal with American production company Emmett Furla Oasis Films (EFO Films). Emmett Furla Oasis Films is owned by established producers Randall Emmett and George Furla. EFO Films previously produced titles such as End of Watch, Rambo, and Escape Plan. International interest is strong for 478, and many major territories have already secured deals for the overseas release. Elliott Lester, who previously directed Blitz with Expendables co-star Jason Statham, will direct.

Columbus residents are used to Schwarzenegger visiting the city in March during the annual Arnold Classic Sports Festival. Residents are excited that Schwarzenegger’s Hollywood film chose Columbus, and they look forward to watching the movie’s scene locations filmed around the city. Considering that 478 has a shooting schedule of just 25 days, it’s possible that this film may be out in the fourth quarter of 2016.

The Legend of Conan
As if we weren’t already pumped enough for Arnold to pick up his Atlantean sword and punch that camel again in The Legend of Conan, I’ve received word from Chris Morgan and Fredrik Malmberg, the film’s producers, that the greatest Schwarzenegger cinematic experience is yet to come!

While these gentlemen are fans of Robert E. Howard’s Conan tales, the goal here for The Legend of Conan is to revisit the barbaric world of John Milius. This will not be a reboot nor will it be given a tame film rating unbefitting of a bitter, barbaric king. The Legend of Conan will in fact be a sequel to Conan the Barbarian, giving us Arnold’s character 30 years later: aged, pissed, and battle-ready.
“A light-hearted Conan? Crom, no!” assures Conan producer Chris Morgan. “Our tone is a logical extension of the character established in the ‘82 film but 30 years later. When we meet him again, Conan has been many things over the course of his life—a thief, a warrior, a pirate, a king, a legend—and is now an older man. Think Unforgiven

… with a sword-wielding barbarian.”
Perhaps the best news of all is that the producer told me that at least three characters from the original film will return in The Legend of Conan. “Without naming names, it’s at least three [returning characters] and you’re gonna love them.”

“Every time I see fans, they demand a new Conan,” says Schwarzenegger. “The role means so much to me and I would love to do it again. As a matter of fact, it has been written and we are now looking for directors, so this is a serious drive,” Arnold announced in early 2016.

Although Arnold may hit age 69 when filming may begin later this year, Schwarzenegger shows no signs of letting age slow him down.

“One of the advantages for when you train every day, when you bicycle everyday, when you work out every day, is that age is not registering in the body the same with everyone else. Because when you stay in shape, you do turn back the clock. So I feel great and the last few movies that I’ve done, I’ve done many of my own stunts. I did all the physical stuff and it didn’t wipe me out and I have plenty of energy and feel really terrific. So I am absolutely convinced that I can do the Conan movie and do the horseback riding, the sword fights, and all the fighting.”

Arnold’s closing remarks about his readiness for Conan were drowned out in cheers as Conan remains Arnold Schwarzenegger’s longest running, biggest fan-anticipated project!

Predator: The Return of Dutch
One movie on everyone’s top five future Schwarzenegger movies list is a “Predator versus Major Alan Dutch” rematch. How could the film with the best handshake in movie history not get a sequel with Ahnuld reprising his badass rescue team leader role? Although this is wishful thinking, we might just be getting the opportunity for this dream rematch of man versus seven-foot-tall, reptilian extraterrestrial. Actor, writer, and director Shane Black, who played Hawkins from 1987’s Predator, just finished writing a sequel to the movie, and while no details are yet announced, we can only hope Shane wrote in a big role for Arnold! Writing partner Fred Dekker announced via Facebook that he and Black have turned in their latest draft of the script to the film studio.

Terminator 6
Just when we thought it was the end of Terminator, due to a depressing rumour that the franchise was on hold indefinitely, all-new exciting news comes forth that confirms film producers are in fact moving forward with future Terminator projects.
“Do we intend to have a next step of Terminator? Yes, we do,” said Skydance chief creative officer Dana Goldberg at The Wrap’s 6th Annual Media Leadership Conference. Skydance is very happy with Terminator Genisys’s $440 million worldwide box office, passing T3’s $433,371,112, making it Schwarzenegger’s personal second biggest hit in his movie career following T2.

While Genisys scored an impressive $440 million worldwide, only $90 million came from the United States. “We’re not taking the domestic total lightly,” Goldberg says. “We’re going to do data and research; that’s incredibly important. We’ll do a worldwide study and really talk to audiences about Terminator and what they loved and what didn’t work for them so that the next step for the franchise that we take is the right one. Do we intend to have a next step with Terminator? Yes we do.”

But what of those original release dates of T6 (May 19, 2017) and T7 (June 29, 2018)? Paramount Pictures has officially cancelled T6’s original May date, but this doesn’t mean the follow up to Terminator Genisys can’t be released later in the fall of 2017 or in early 2018.
“We are not going to go into production at the beginning of next year (as originally planned) because it would be silly to not listen to what audiences have to say and to adjust accordingly,” says Goldberg. So it looks like those dates will change and this new announcement about “the next step of Terminator” may very well mean that instead of two more films, Skydance and Paramount may just do one more.
While attending the Terminator Genisys after-party, I spoke with one of the film’s writers, Patrick Lussier, who told me the best news of all about Terminator 6—the Arnold T-800 will again be bad! Lussier said that we fans who have been clamoring for bad Arnold to return may be getting what we want. The T-800 Arnold may become the ruthless killing machine again “when it’s the most gut-wrenching” in the story continuation.

Although T5 didn’t please the majority of critics, true Terminator fans all agree it’s the best one since T2. We’re all eager for a new sequel continuation with Arnold’s upgraded and more deadly Terminator model.

Enthiran 2 (Robot 2)
Which will come first? The Terminator or the Robot? While we wait for the film studios to fine-tune Terminator 6, many reports say that Arnold Schwarzenegger is in negotitions with director Shankar to star as the lead villain in Enthiran 2 (translated to Robot 2), the sequel to India’s greatest action movie. Schwarzenegger may sign on for a whopping $15 million for around 30 days for filming his role. However, one source says Arnold feels the script needs a little help and wants it perfected before he officially signs on. Will the director wait for the script doctors to come in, or will Shankar move on without Arnold’s involvement? If negotiations are successfully worked out, a January 2016 start date is rumoured and Robot 2 is likely to take two years to release due to the outstanding number of special effects. If Robot 2 comes out in 2018, theatergoers might be seeing Arnold on the big screen that same year for Robot 2 and Terminator 6!

Twins 2: Triplets
In 1989, audiences were laughing hard with Twins while Arnold was laughing all the way to the bank since the Ivan Reitman comedy was the actor’s most profitable movie salary to date. Arnold and Danny DeVito hope to repeat that success and are eager to film the follow-up sequel, Twins 2: Triplets

“Yes,” said Schwarzenegger in early 2016, “We’ve been working on this now for the last two years, I would say. The idea was to have Danny DeVito, myself with Eddie Murphy, be all of the sudden, the other twin— the triplet that we find. It comes out that after our mother dies, the will gets read out loud and it says you get this, and you get this, and your other brother gets this. And we are like, ‘what? What other brother?’ And then we discover that there is something off here. Then we find out about the experiment that was made and there was some black person involved.”

Screenwriter and comedian Josh Gad tells me that the Triplets script is complete! “The script is actually done. Everybody agrees that it’s great. We wound up doing two drafts. Everybody read the script and loved it, so I hope it sees the light of day at some point. It’s there and in great shape.” Gad also tells me that Julius and Vincent have grown apart since the last film. “Their lives have changed. The two of them find themselves at a major crossroads where they’ve sort of grown apart over the years and what winds up bringing them together is a third brother they never knew they had who could potentially be played by Eddie Murphy.”

The Movie Pump
No matter what project Arnold selects next, whether it be Conan, Terminator, Predator, or another acting-heavy dramatic role, one outcome will remain the same: Exercise and fitness shall forever go hand-in-hand with his movie career. “I always try to stay active,” Arnold says. “Even when I’m in the middle of filming. Like when we do night filming and we film from 6:00 in the evening to 6:00 in the morning, and I will find sometime like 4:00 in the morning when I can work out with weights. Or 12 midnight. It makes no difference when it is, because the body really doesn’t care as long as you get the training every day. To me, it is very important to do something every day.”
