ATLANTIC CLASSIC BODYBUILDING, PHYSIQUE, FIGURE & BIKINI CHAMPIONSHIPS

SATURDAY, APRIL 29TH, CASINO NEW BRUNSWICK, MONCTON NB

This year’s 39th Annual Atlantic Classic Championships will be held in Moncton at Casino NB for the 5TH  year in a row and 225 athletes competing from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador will be taking part in this EPIC, VEGAS, SHOWTIME event.

27 classes will be spread out amongst 6 different divisions of Bodybuilding, Women’s Physique, Men’s Classic Physique, Men’s Physique, Figure and Bikini.  The Grandmaster Bikini 45+ age group and Grandmaster Men’s Physique 50+ age groups have been added for the first time in the history of the Atlantics.  As mentioned year after year, the Atlantic Classic Championships have evolved fiercely through the years and its popularity never gets old.

Co-Promoter Jean LeBlanc comments; “It’s humbling to see so many athletes excited and anxious to take part in our events.  The interest hasn’t died down a bit and the sport is alive and well in Atlantic Canada.  It truly is all about the athletes.  We do these shows because we care and have a passion for the sport, the time we invest is valuable but deep down we know the athletes appreciate Heather and I for what we do.   Our objective has always been to get as many people on stage and we will continue to hold seminars and provide them a platform and events to compete in as long as the interest remains.”

The LeBlanc’s credit their success to the support of their sponsors, the athletes involved, their excellent team and volunteers and of course the audience and fans.  They’ve all played a very important role in making these championships a huge success year after year.

The promoters have also brought back the SCULPT TRANSFORMATION AWARD showcasing 14 athletes (consisting of male and female) who’ve drastically transformed their out of shape physiques into stage bodies in less than 16 weeks.  The Before and After results will be presented in an opening montage before stepping on stage very similar to the popular TV series the Biggest Loser.  10 random judges across Atlantic Canada were chosen to judge this award prior to the event.  This is always a favorite part of the show to take in.  Seeing the sacrifices and hard work these individuals put in is astounding and incredible to watch.

For the first time in history, a Grandmaster Men’s Physique 50 + Division will feature 4 gentlemen including John Campbell from Halifax, NS who was inquiring about the insertion of this new division.  Co-Promoter & President of NBPFA comments; “We try to open up as many classes as we can to honor the athlete’s wishes and give them an opportunity to compete against athletes in their own age group.”  It makes the competition more balanced, exciting and gives those athletes  more self-confidence to get up there on that stage with fair competition.”  Men’s Physique has been described at times as “a young man’s sport”, however, our Master’s Classes 40+ and 50+ have certainly proven that theory a myth, with over 13 gentlemen competing over the age of 40 years old.  I have so much respect for the Grandmaster and Master competitors and I have to say that the Men’s Physique category is definitely my personal favorite and is one of our more popular divisions in the sport of bodybuilding and fitness.”  In the very popular Bikini Division, we have over 100 competitors competing, the largest number of athletes competing amongst 7 different classes ranging from Grandmasters, Masters, A,B,C,D and E Divisions.

In closing, the promoters will be offering a live stream for this event for family, friends and fans living abroad.  Please go to:  http://tv1.bellaliant.ca/Home/Live/1 for live coverage of both the Pre-judging and Evening Finals.  Prejudging will commence at 9:00 am Atlantic standard time – tickets available at the door.  The evening show finals will begin at 6:00 pm, tickets are available at www.casinonb.ca .  For more details about the show, please visit our website at www.atlanticclassic.ca .
