The Comet to Return to Competition

Marcus Haley, AKA Haley's Comet, is returning to competition after a small hiatus from the sport; and this time, he's coming back to do some damage in the 212 division!

As to why the comeback, why now, and why the 212 division, Haley had the following to say (WARNING: Long post ahead)

"I have always had and athletic structure with a small waist. In the pursuit of being big in the open class I sacrificed what made me a pro in the first place. In doing that I damaged my heart. My near-death experience that you're referring to was a moment of not catching my breath on the elliptical. I got off the machine went to the cardiologists and found a hat and an enlarged ventricle. My ejection fraction was 55 to 60% which means my heart was operating at Optimum levels. After further investigation we realize that I had slightly high blood pressure and it accumulated over the years thickening the left ventricle walls.

After medication and taking a rest it subsided resulting in myself being taken off metoprolol. As of right now I use lisinopril 20 milligrams a day. Now back to this to this to this 212 division. Having to come down has cost me size but what it has given me is a totally different shape I'm able to vacuum pose my waist is exceptionally tight and I have still managed to maintain back thickness with even more separation. In my humble opinion, I can give a different look in that category meaning that these guys are smaller and I can make them appear block year thus giving my shape more of an athletically pleasing illusion. One of the factors that will be challenging is keeping the leg fullness. I've been fortunate that my legs are still responding and I think that's due to the type of training that I'm doing now. The separation is very very good but there still can be some more thickness at it but I think the balance is still very good at this point. I believe from a genetic standpoint that I can still build my legs in that since this giving me and even more complete look for this division.

This could make for an interesting battle because now you have an apples and oranges type look that could bring some more interesting battles in the division. Again this is my humble opinion. You of all people should know about my driving determination and my heart I'm not going to shy away from anybody in the 212 Olympic division. If I win I will sit out the rest of this year out and focus everything I got on going to the Olympia and being a badass. That's just the way I was brought up and it's my DNA. No matter what I'll have no reason to hold my head down because I've done something that nobody thought I could do."

The Comet is slated to compete this coming weekend at the 2016 IFBB Europa Phoenix Pro. Good luck, Marcus!
