MARKETING SPECIALIST

The Marketing Specialist will primarily lead in the creation of the company’s brand copy for advertising, labels, social media advertising, scripts for video, website content, sales material, etc. Copy editing will also be a major responsibility. This position reports directly to the Director of Marketing.

Responsibilities:

- Create well-written informative and error-free copy to support a wide variety of projects.

- Coordinate, organize, track, and oversee ad development cycle from beginning-to-end, this includes all copy written print and special request projects

- Generate clever product strategies, including headlines and body copy for advertisements, product plugs, motion picture scripts, social media posts and integrated initiatives, sales support materials, brochures, product labels, POS signage, press releases, and web content, etc.

- Edit and revise all projects according to feedback from all appropriate channels and other stakeholders

- Assist the Art Department Manager with ideas for advertising and promotion. The Incumbent may help to generate names for products and the slogans that appear on the packaging and other promotional material

- Liaise with other stakeholders to discuss and understand the company needs and requirements, including Brand Management, Sales, R & D, Regulatory, Legal Affairs, Executives, and Copy Editor

- Create substantiation packages for media organizations (print & video)

- Coordinate, oversee, and analyze 3rd party media website advertising

- Proactive in establishing all project requirements and recognizing potential hurdles at the onset of the project delegation in order to ensure effective and timely completion

- Develop a solid grasp of the nutritional supplement industry (specifically bodybuilding and sports supplements), the fitness industry, as well as the basics of nutrition and exercise. This will include basic scientific terminology and concepts

- Developing a strong understanding of the products the team is responsible for, and staying up to date with any changes or  advancements relating to the products; while simultaneously remaining cognizant of other competitors products and advertising

- Study products or services to determine the primary benefits and develop unique new concepts to write all copy (verbal or textual content) to support consumer communication efforts

- Remain updated with popular industry culture and trends through research, analysis, and having a strong understanding of the various media venues in which the advertisements appear

- Contribute to the overall strategy, development, and implementation of new product launches

- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Marketing

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

- Degree in Kinesiology, Marketing, Advertising, or Communications. Must have demonstrated at least 3 years related industry experience preferable within a consumer packaged goods environment. Candidates with at least 2-5 years professional writing experience in print, TV, and/or online will be preferred

- Knowledge and understanding of bodybuilding, fitness, and the sport supplement industry is a definite asset

- Motivated self-starter with positive attitude who is easily adaptable to a faced paced environment with changing priorities and multiple directions

- Highly organized with the ability to multitask many projects such as ads or campaigns at the same time under tight deadlines

- Must have ability to establish strong relationships across various departments and have an understanding of client needs, the consumer experience, marketing strategy, and operational capabilities

- Outstanding communication, organization, time management, and problem solving skills

- Ability to write exceptionally compelling imaginative and persuasive copy that is on strategy, error free, and in a variety of styles

- Ability to handle constructive criticism of material and an understanding that many ideas will need to be adapted to suit the needs of others

- Proficient in MS Office Suite

Working Conditions:

- Work requires superior communication, analytical, and organizational skills necessary to direct, plan, and administer a large variety of complex tasks

- Well-developed ability to use judgment and reasoning to solve problems and deal with situations involving sufficient information

- Understanding of written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents

- Excellent communication skills as the job involves talking to others or writing to convey information clearly and effectively

- Long hours sitting while using office equipment and computers, and may have short periods of standing, walking, lifting, carrying and/or squatting while analyzing or assembling equipment

- Some tasks may need to be completed within tight deadlines and some overtime may be required

- Environment may be extremely busy and noisy

- Occasional domestic and/or international travel may be required
