New Age Pro Mouthpiece Review

New Age Performance makes pro mouthpieces for athletes, and apparently these mouthpieces are “the best mouthwear in the world,” according to New Age. That’s a bold statement about mouthpieces, New Age! Unless something claims that it’s the “best,” I won’t buy it. And if it does claim to be the best, then I scrutinize it even more. New Age Performance has popularized the mouthpiece recently, with its focus on bodybuilders, powerlifters, and other elite athletes. As a company, New Age Performance isn’t new, but it already has two popular mouthpieces on the market, the 5DS and 6DS Pro Mouthpieces.

New Age Pro Mouthpiece Increases Performance

It’s one thing for New Age Performance mouthpieces to claim they can increase strength, increase oxygen, and increase your reps, but it’s another to back it up. The difference between New Age and other companies is that it openly discloses that its products don’t make you stronger but do give you the potential to maximize your own strength. So their claims can’t be false, because it’s up to you to put the work in using the New Age Pro mouth guards. 90 percent of the population has a bad bite, due to wear on the teeth over the years. A bad bite, over time, will display forward head posture, which puts the body in poor alignment. The New Age mouthpiece restores the wear that was lost over the years, thus correcting the bite. With a correct bite, the body is aligned, which in return, will allow one to experience increased strength, balance, range of motion, and flexibility. It’s like when your car is out of alignment due to wear and tear, it doesn’t perform properly.

Protect Your Grill

I think a major benefit for bikini competitors, fitness models, and competitors in general is that this mouth guard is designed to protect the smiles they’ve paid so much for. In the fitness industry, it’s all about selling your smile, and people pay tons of money to get their teeth looking great. I think this is a benefit that many lifters may not think about until it’s pointed out. All the jaw muscles working together can close the teeth with a force as great as 55 pounds (25 kilograms) on the incisors or 200 pounds (90.7 kilograms) on the molars. So imagine what happens every time you clench when you train hard and heavy! That’s a lot of wear and tear on your pearly whites! New Age has developed the exact vertical measurement in millimeters that the mouth should be open for maximum force production of your jaw muscles. This is a patent pending measurement, exclusive to New Age.

Our Test Drive of the New Age Pro Mouthpieces

I’m definitely not used to wearing a mouthpiece or even chewing gum when I lift, so having something in my mouth and using it correctly was a really big shift for me. At first it was awkward, but once I got comfortable, the way it sat on my teeth and tongue made it unnoticeable. I used it while I trained bench, squat, and deadlift (I specifically chose the big three lifts for this trial run), and the truth is, it actually felt good to have something to press against and bite down on to generate more power! It was almost like I could channel more energy and power through my body by keeping my jaw clenched.

New Age Pro Mouthpiece Is Ideal for Weightlifing

The New Age mouthpiece fools the body into thinking that you have the perfect bite; when this happens, the body aligns, and your rib cage opens up, allowing more oxygen into the lungs. When your body is not in alignment, and you experience forward head posture, your rib collapses, decreasing lung space, and therefore limiting oxygen potential. No way you’ll be able to lift at your max! I could tell you how using the New Age Pro 6DS helped me add pounds to my squat and deadlift over the course of several weeks, and how it helped me add reps to weight that was already difficult. Or I could just show you someone significantly stronger and bigger lifting more using the New Age Pro mouth guard. Even hardcore powerlifters and weightlifters use New Age Pro Mouthpieces.

New Age Pro Mouthpiece Types

The jaw moves in six different directions: anterior posterior, protrusive, pitch, yaw, roll, and lateral. None of these may mean anything to you, but let me explain. The product development team at New Age discovered that the side-to-side movement of your jaw (#6, lateral) is what determines whether you get an extra rep in the gym or not. The difference between the New Age Pro Mouthpiece 5DS and the 6DS is the addition of the side-to-side stabilizer walls. The New Age Pro Mouthpiece comes in tons of colours including clear, pink, green, orange, and dark blue.

New Age Pro Mouthpiece compared to Under Armour

Between New age and Under Armour, I personally felt that Under Armour didn’t really do anything for me, and wasn't very comfortable. New age lived up to the hype and provided considerable benefits,I’m not used to training with anything in my mouth—not even gum—but this mouthpiece is exceptionally comfortable. For overall design, price, comfort, and cool factor, we give both New Age Mouthpieces a MUSCLE INSIDER solid 5-star rating!
