Scivation’s Xtend Supplement Review

The name Scivation is synonymous with BCAAs. Its first product—its flagship product—was Xtend, and it’s still winning awards for “best recovery supplement” and “best BCAAs supplement.” Back in the day, when it was just a budding young company, Scivation was famous for its original advanced BCAA drink, Xtend. It’s been around that long, and for good reason—because it’s the gold standard in branched chains. As of right now, Scivation has expanded its Xtend line to include Xtend Go, Raw, Free, Perform, and RTD, but Xtend (the original) will always be in our hearts … and on our supplement shelves. According to its website, Scivation has 66 athletes on its team. Sixty six world-class athletes, champion fighters, elite bodybuilders, and serious competitors from all walks of life and sports can’t be wrong. And neither can we, when it comes to our review on Scivation’s Xtend. Maybe there’s something to this whole “science and innovation” thing…

Scivation’s Xtend Under the Microscope
Xtend claims to have no carbs, no calories, and no sugar—all the ingredients you don’t want in your BCAA product. But what does it have? Xtend is the best-selling BCAA drink mix on the planet for a reason. To start, there are 7 grams of BCAAs in the clinically backed and research-proven 2:1:1 ratio, plus glutamine and citrulline malate. We want to emphasize the “clinically backed and research-proven” part because Scivation makes a point of advertising two distinct JISSN (Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition) articles on its website. Both studies were done using Xtend as the BCAA supplement; one discusses a study whereby BCAA supplementation increased lean muscle mass and muscle strength and enhanced fat loss in test subjects, and the other one is about how BCAAs can maintain lean body mass during a caloric restricted diet (think competition prep).

Xtend has an exclusive, proprietary blend of hydration-inducing electrolytes. It’s this combination that enables you to grind harder and longer through a gruelling gym session. The more replenished you are with its electrolyte blend of trisodium citrate dihydrate, potassium chloride, and sodium chloride, the longer, harder, and more intense you can train. The sodium, potassium, and vitamin B6 work in conjunction with the standard BCAAs and glutamine to seriously and effectively shorten recovery time. As the website says, “You just don’t feel recovered, you are recovered.”

To reiterate the results of the university studies, Xtend can help facilitate muscle maintenance on a diet, enhance fat loss, and/or contribute to new muscle construction. Whatever you want your body to do, Xtend can help! The role of BCAAs in the body is to orchestrate protein synthesis and balance “the intracellular energy economy.” What this means is that it helps and enhances your body’s ability to do everything it was designed to do, naturally.

How and When to Take Scivation’s Xtend
As a dietary supplement, mix one scoop per 8 to 16 ounces of water (adjust for taste preferences). Shake well and consume up to two scoops during exercise on training days or between meals on non-training days. For best results, use two scoops per day.

Final Thoughts on Scivation’s Xtend
Xtend is as good now as it was a decade ago. Except a decade ago, it didn’t come in twelve amazing, delicious, mouth-watering flavours such as Pink Lemonade, Grape, Watermelon, Lemon-Lime, Orange, Pineapple, Fruit Punch, Blue Raspberry, Strawberry Kiwi, Green Apple, and Mango. We recommend this BCAA product for any hardcore fitness enthusiast, athlete, and/or competitor who wants to take their training and recovery to the next level. The taste, mixability, ingredient quality, price per serving, and dependability/longevity of the company’s reputation are just a few of the reasons we recommend Scivation’s Xtend!
