Cooler temperatures for fat loss and new fat fighting pill

Cooler temperature for a hotter you

Humans carry two different types of fat in their bodies: brown fat and white fat. White fat is more common in our bodies as adults. It’s what’s responsible for our energy reserves and protecting our vital organs. It’s essentially just the fat you try to lose when you diet. Brown fat is the type that’s responsible for burning calories in our body to generate heat. This type of fat actually helps burn fat instead of storing it. Scientists placed men in a temperature-controlled room for four months and watched to see whether decreasing temperature would activate brown fat. They noticed that the room with the coolest temperature (19°C) not only had the greatest effect on brown fat activation but also enhanced insulin sensitivity after meals and increased diet-induced thermogenesis.

New fat-loss pill may be the best thing for obesity

Gelesis 100 may be the newest kid on the block, but it may also be the most effective so far. Scientists tested the efficacy of Gelesis 100 on obese subjects, many of whom also had a co-morbidity such as pre-diabetes. One group took 2.25 grams of the pill twice a day, another group took 3.75 grams, and the last group received a placebo; all groups had similar diet and exercise instructions. Subjects lost 6.5, 4.5, and 4.1 percent of their bodyweight, respectively, after 12 weeks on the treatment. The pill works by increasing the feeling of fullness and reducing caloric intake, because it expands in the stomach and mixes with digested food. It works similarly to fibre, but in pill form. Sounds promising, but MUSCLE INSIDER is all about the fundamentals when it comes to healthy weight loss: proper nutrition, cardiovascular exercise, and regular weight training. You can’t go wrong with that formula.
