Is Creatine safe?

QUESTION: Hey Mark I love reading your work even the political shit you write about the regulations of supplements in Europe. My question is on the safety of Creatine. I’ve heard using it might affect your kidneys. Is this true?

ANSWER: Don’t even get me started on the political situation over here on the regulation of supplements! Thanks for following my work. I've reported on the safety of Creatine Monohydrate before but in case anyone needs any more evidence that this stuff is as safe as a bottle of water! The European Journal of Applied Physiology has reported results of a double-blind, placebo-controlled study that showed that even in diabetics (who are at higher risk of kidney dysfunction), creatine use for 12 weeks has no negative effects on kidney function.
