Waxy Maize After Workouts

Q. What’s your honest opinion on waxy maize after a workout?

A. I’m a firm believer in using waxy maize after working out. After intense exercise, the body is in a highly catabolic state primarily because blood sugar and insulin levels have drastically fallen. In order to get the most from your training, you need to take full advantage of this time of heightened nutrient sensitivity known as the anabolic window. This is where waxy maize comes in. It has a fast absorption rate, which works to bypass the stomach and shuttle nutrients efficiently and effectively to the muscles. Waxy maize also has a high molecular weight and low osmolarity rate, which boosts blood glucose levels, triggering an increase in production of insulin, the body’s most anabolic hormone.
