2024 Arnold Strongman and Strongwoman Classic Results
Yes, the Arnold Classic is best-known for its bodybuilding traditions, but they also have a very prestigious strongman and strongwoman competition that takes place on the same weekend, and they bring their own loyal fans with them to experience the pageantry and intensity of the challenges.
Hooper Successfully Defends Title
The 2024 edition of the ASC was held in Columbus, OH on the weekend of Mar. 1-2, 2024, and Canada’s own Mitchell Hooper went in as the defending champion. That was also how he left the platform. Hooper brought a second Louis Cyr Trophy with him back to Canada as a two-time champion. Hooper had to hold off the challenges of past champions Hafthór Björnsson and Martins Licis as well as two-time World’s Strongest Man Tom Stoltman to get the job done. The competition also led to multiple athletes bowing out due to injuries, including another Canadian Maxime Boudreault, who suffered a lat injury. The final order of finish is below.

Hooper won the Timber Carry, a 400-kilogram frame that had to be walked up a ramp in the fastest time possible, with a time of 7.1 seconds. He also won the Webster Stone Carry, which called for the athletes to carry a pair of stones with handles on them for the furthest distance. Hooper’s 12.6 meters was the only one to measure in the double digits, making him the clear winner.
He won his third straight event by placing first in the Apollon’s Wheel, an event he dedicated special focus to. His five reps were good enough to claim victory yet again, making his overall victory almost certain. By the time they got to the Stones of Strength overhead press event, he only had to lift one stone successfully for the announcer to officially declare him champion. He actually completed two in less than 20 seconds for good measure.
Next up for Hooper will be the 2024 World’s Strongest Man competition in Myrtle Beach, SC on the week of April 30 - May 5. He’s also the champion of that contest. Hooper is considered by many to be the number one man in his sport right now, and he has no plans to release that title anytime soon.
New Strongwoman Champion
The Arnold Strongwoman Classic, on the other hand, was much closer than the men’s contest. Angelica Jardine of the United States barely won the competition over a very determined Olga Liaschuck of Ukraine to take the title. She’s the second American to win this competition. The first was Victoria Long in 2023.
Long was in this contest as well, but she also had to bow out due to injury. Samantha Belliveau was the highest finishing Canadian in the event, taking sixth place. The final standings for this competition are as follows.

Jardine’s weekend didn’t start as she planned because she finished eighth in the opening event, the Elephant Bar Deadlift. Lucy Underdown of the UK scored a 666-pound lift to take that win. However, Jardine’s consistency throughout the weekend after that was what helped her place first. She won the Webster Stones event and scored in the top five of every other event. She put on the performance of a lifetime by lifting six of the Stones of Strength to take gold in that event and the competition.
Hooper and Jardine are both pre-qualified to compete in the 2025 ASC competitions in Columbus if they choose to compete. Event replays of the contests are available on the Arnold Sports Livestream page.
