Canadas Best Chances To Win The 2023 Bikini International

By:
Roger “Rock” Lockridge

The 2023 IFBB Pro League season is underway, but the first major stop on the road to the Olympia is the 2023 Arnold Classic. Seven contests will be held on the weekend of Mar. 2-5 in Columbus, Ohio, and one of those is the Bikini International. Ten elite competitors are going to grace the stage of the Greater Columbus Convention Center with hopes of taking the title and 2023 Olympia qualification that comes with it. The full roster is below.

  • Romina Basualdo
  • Maureen Blanquisco
  • Lauralie Chapados (Canada)
  • Jennifer Dorie (Canada)
  • Ivanna Escandar
  • Alessia Fachin
  • Eli Fernandez
  • Phoebe Hagan
  • Ashley Kaltwasser
  • Ukachi Onyejiaka

Out of these ten ladies, Canada will be very well represented. The last two winners of this contest – 2022 winner Lauralie Chapados and 2021 champion Jennifer Dorie are both in this contest. They are Canada’s only champions in the contest’s history, and they are considered to be among the favorites to be the last two standing.

Lauralie Chapados

Chapados not only won the 2022 Bikini International, but she also took victories in Pittsburgh and New York last year. She was a favorite to win the Olympia, but Chapados would place fifth. Maureen Blanquisco of Norway would be victorious in that contest, and she is also competing in this one. The good news for Chapados is that she defeated Blanquisco on the Columbus stage last year, so it’s possible that she can emerge victorious once again. Chapados will have to be better than the Olympia, and even improved from her 2022 victory if she wants to get back on track and repeat as champion for this show.

Jennifer Dorie

Dorie was the 2021 winner of this contest, and she went on to win her first Olympia that same year in Orlando, Florida. Unfortunately for Dorie, she was relegated to second in the 2022 Bikini Olympia. So, she will also be on the road to redemption at this contest. She not only has big show experience, but she’s also very knowledgeable about the division and its athletes. She likely got feedback from the judges and is already planning how she will surpass her 2022 form. Dorie has defeated both Chapados and Blanquisco within the last two years, so there is no certainty with how this competition will play out. It will be interesting for the fans watching for sure.

Do you think either Chapados or Dorie will win a second Arnold championship, or will someone else take the 2023 championship and be interviewed by Arnold Schwarzenegger? Let us know on Instagram or Twitter @muscleinsider . Fans that want to see the contest in person can still get tickets at www.arnoldsports.com, and fans watching at home can purchase the pay-per-view from Fanmio on the ASF site as well.
